This classic 3 ingredient lemon drop shot recipe is a bar and party staple, made with only lemon juice, vodka, and simple syrup!
If you’re looking for a slightly sweet and very tart alcohol shot, this is the drink for you.
It’s based off of the classic lemon drop martini. Similar to a Corpse Reviver no. 2, the lemon juice helps cut the sweetness of the shots so it’s not overpowering. Unlike a Chocolate Cake Shot or White Tea Shot, which are very sweet, this is light, lemony, and goes down super easy.
Paired with a sugar rim and a slice of lemon, it’s a classic party shot for a reason.
Ingredients
- Vodka: most restaurants and bars use a common vodka such as Titos or Smirnoff, but you can use your favorite vodka brand. You can also use flavored vodka such as Absolut Citron.
- Simple Syrup: You can use either premade simple syrup or homemade.
- Lemon Juice: Fresh lemon juice is preferred but you can also use store bought.
Homemade Simple Syrup
You can make your own simple syrup by cooking equal parts water and sugar until the sugar has dissolved and starts to slightly thicken. Let it cool and you have homemade simple syrup.
How to Make
These shots are super easy to make making them a perfect party staple!
Step 1: Rim Shot Glass
Rub a lemon wedge around the edge of the shot glass to wet the rim so the sugar sticks. You can also dip the rim of a glass in simple syrup or corn syrup instead of using lemon juice. Then, dip the wet rim into granulated sugar.
Step 2: Mix and Pour
Add ice cubes, vodka, simple syrup, and lemon juice into a large cocktail shaker. Shake until mixed and cold.
Pour into the prepared shot glass. Add a lemon slice to garnish and enjoy!
