- Square Marshmallows: Also known as Campfire Marshmallows, S’mores Marshmallows or Stackers Marshmallows, these Campfire Marshmallows are square and fit perfectly on top of a graham cracker!
- Gummy Eyes: This is what gives the S’mores it’s spooky effect. Adding a gummy eye to the marshmallow. You can find these eyes at most stores including Target, and Amazon. You can also use gummy teeth for a fun variation.
Tools:
- Kitchen Torch: This is what toasts the marshmallows! Be careful when using, especially if making these with kids.
- Popsicle Sticks: For turning these S’mores into Halloween S’mores pops! But, you can make them without the popsicle stick for a traditional Halloween S’more.
How to make
Step 1: Make Marshmallows Eyes
Cut a slit in square roasting marshmallows and add gummy eyes. Using a cooking torch, carefully roast the marshmallows around the gummy eyes. Let cool.
Step 2: Add to Graham Crackers
If you haven’t done so, melt the chocolate according to the package directions. Then, add a bit of chocolate to a graham cracker. While the chocolate is still melted, add a popsicle stick to the middle and then add a bit more melted chocolate. Gently press the cooled marshmallow on top of the graham cracker and melted chocolate. Let cool completely.
Step 3: Coat in Chocolate (optional)
If desired, coat the graham cracker half of the S’more in chocolate, using a spoon to get it around the popsicle stick. Please on a parchment lined baking sheet to harden. Once the chocolate is firm, enjoy these spooky treats!
Fun Variations
- Teeth: Use these gummy teeth instead of eyes, for another fun and spooky S’mores!
- Mummy S’mores: Drizzle white chocolate over the S’mores for like these Halloween strawberries for a funny mummy style treat.
- Peanut Butter: Add a layer of peanut butter on top of the graham cracker, before you add the chocolate and marshmallow for a peanut butter chocolate S’mores.
Tips and Tricks
- Line the Baking Pan: Line a baking sheet or workspace with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. This makes it easy to remove the treats once they’ve set.
- Get the Desired Consistency: If using candy melts and the chocolate appears too thick, you can add vegetable shortening 1 tsp at a time until you get a slightly thinner dipping consistency.
- When melting chocolate, keep the bowl and all utensils dry: Any liquid can cause the chocolate to get grainy.
GIFTING
These Halloween S’mores makes such a fun homemade gift or party favor! There are three main ways I like to package these Halloween Treats:
- Bags: This is my favorite method! I prefer clear plastic bags because they allow all the S’mores to show through. But, you can also use bakery bags or Halloween treat bags.
- Boxes: This is a great way to these S’mores. Boxes are perfect for when you are gifting more than one treat such as pairing the S’mores with Halloween Strawberries, Halloween cookies, or macarons.
- Tins: Cookie tins are not just for cookies! These decorative tins are so cute and festive! Plus, they are a great option for shipping and the least likely to get damaged in transport.
