These adorable and easy Halloween ghost cupcakes are the perfect easy Halloween treat the whole family can enjoy!

shadows on ghost cupcakes.

Aren't these spooky cupcakes cute? With three different versions ranging in difficulty, you'll have a fun Halloween treat the whole family can  enjoy – and help make!

Try one, two, or all three methods for your next Halloween party or get together!

Ingredients

For all three methods of cupcakes you’ll need the following:

  • Cupcakes: you can use your favorite cupcake recipe. Chocolate, yellow cupcakes, red velvet, spiced cupcakes, etc.  Whatever you want totally works.
  • Frosting: For all these cupcakes I recommended a white buttercream frosting, such as American Buttercream, Swiss Meringue Buttercream, Italian Meringue Buttercream, or Ermine frosting.
  • Eyes: You can use melted dark chocolate, candy eye sprinkles, or a pre-made gel frosting.

How to Make

Piped Ghost Cupcakes

Ingredients and Tools:

  • Cupcakes and Frosting
  • Piping Bags with Large Tip

These are the easiest to make. Simple pipe white frosting on a cupcake and add some eyes. That's it!

Melted Chocolate Ghost Cupcakes

In addition to your cupcakes and frosting, you'll need:

  • Melted White Chocolate or Candy Melts
  • Finely Crushed Cookies such as Oreos
  • Parchment or Wax Paper
  • Spoon, Offset Spatula, or Knife

Melt white chocolate or candy melts according to instructions. While melted, use a spoon or offset spatula to spread the melted chocolate in the shape of a ghost on a piece of parchment or wax paper. If adding sprinkles or candy eyes, add while the chocolate is still melted. Otherwise, let the chocolate dry and add gel or melted chocolate as eyes.

Pipe or spread a bit of frosting on the top of a cupcake. Then dip the frosted part of the cupcake in the crushed cookies so they cover the entire surface.

Place the dried chocolate ghost in the top of the cupcakes. Enjoy!

Floating Ghost Cupcakes

In addition to your cupcakes and frosting, for these floating ghost Halloween cupcakes you'll need:

  • Fondant
  • Large circle cookie cutters
  • Marshmallows or lollipops

Roll out some fondant or this homemade marzipan recipe and cut into large circles using a cookie cutter or knife.

Add some frosting onto a cupcake and add a large marshmallow. You can also use a lollipop pressed into the cupcake. Place the fondant circles over the marshmallow and press until it gets to a shape you like.

Finally, add on your eyes using melted chocolate or dark frosting.
