Key Ingredients

See the recipe card for a full list of ingredients and quantities.
- Chocolate Hazelnut Spread: Both Nutella brand and generic brands work great!
- Cream Cheese: Adds richness and helps create a smooth, sliceable filling. Make sure it is room temperature! If it is too cold, it will not combine with the Nutella.
- Oreo Pie Crust: You can use pre-made crust, or make your own with this Oreo crust recipe. This recipe also works great with graham cracker crust or chocolate graham cracker crust!
- Optional Toppings: Whipped cream (vanilla whipped cream or chocolate whipped cream), more Cool Whip, chopped hazelnuts, or chocolate shavings for a pretty and tasty garnish.
How to Make

- Add Nutella to Crust (optional): If desired, smooth 1/4 to 1/3 cup Nutella along the bottom of the pie crust and refrigerate while making the filling. The spread gets really fudgey and delicious when it’s cold, adding a nice ganache-style layer to the pie. But, this is totally optional and you can just mix it all in with the cream cheese!

- Mix Nutella and Cream Cheese: In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and Nutella in a large bowl until smooth, about 2-3 minutes.

- Add Cool Whip: Gently fold in the cool whip with a spatula, and mix until fully combined.

- Add Filling to Crust: Add the filling to the prepared pie crust.

- Smooth Top: Smooth out the top of the pie filling using a regular or offset spatula.

- Let Chill: Let the pie chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours (preferably overnight) before adding any additional toppings, and then slice and enjoy! That’s it, so easy and a great make-ahead dessert.

Tips For Perfect Nutella Pie
- While a chocolate Oreo crust is classic, this recipe is also delicious with a graham cracker crust!
- Make sure your cream cheese is very soft before mixing, otherwise you can get little pieces of unmixed cream cheese with the hazelnut spread.
- Hate Cool Whip? You can use homemade whipped cream instead, by whipping up 1.5 cups of heavy whipping cream and folding that into the Nutella cream cheese mixture.
- Add any garnishes like extra whipped cream, shaved chocolate, nuts, etc. just before serving.
