mint, lemon peels and slices, blueberries for garnishoptional
Instructions
Peel and juice 4-5 lemons
To make the sugar syrup, add 1/2 the lemon peels, blueberries, sugar and water into a saucepan and heat until the sugar has dissolved and the blueberries start to pop, about 3-4 minutes.
Remove from heat and let sit a few minutes to cool down.
Using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth strain out the berries and lemon peel from the simple syrup.
Add the blueberry simple syrup to a large pitcher and add 4 cups of cold water. Then, chill the mixture in the fridge.
When chilled, pour over ice, add optional garnishes and enjoy!
Notes
Adding the peeled lemon zest to the simply syrup is optional, but adds an extra lemony kick to the lemonade.
You can add an extra ¼ cup lemon juice for extra tart lemonade.
Both fresh and frozen blueberries work great in this recipe.
Add a shot of vodka, rum, or whiskey for a blueberry lemonade cocktail.
